I thought that because the output_verbose_cmd trick is still done the normal
objects and libraries would get added. I now notice that this would only be
the case if predeps postdeps were added to archive_cmds as well. I'm testing
this now and will get back to you.

Not so much c++ not working as the gcc specs were broken such that -shared
didn't do the right thing. The patches are to workaround the broken specs.
