Use virtualbox. it's the easiest to run on Windows and the most

It appears that "certain features" of Virtualbox are still very much
non-free software. In other words, it contains non-free blobs.

Is there a version that is actually entirely free?

From my limited exploration, I found that there is a limited version of VirtualBox that is GPL2. That, and the fact that it's Oracle, discouraged me from using it. I did check that out before I posted; it's the best-known choice. I started looking beyond that, and that's when I realized I should seek input from others.

I might add that I'm using GNU/Linux (Mageia). My purpose in trying out other distros is to do some limited use testing of several distros. I'm going to try them out with some people with whom I've been discussing usability and convenience of Free software, and I wanted to try out several different systems, and virtualization would make this fairly convenient.

Thanks very much for all the posts so far!
