Here are some suggestions:
Subscription services that give other people access to a repository of the software which they can download and keep for ever, so long as they follow the GPL.
You can create packages Similar to cable TV, where if they subscribe to access your free software repository at lets say $15 AUD per month they will get access to certain amount of the programmers works, than if they subscribed for $5 AUD per month.
To save on expenses I recommend BitTorrent Sync for distribution, until someone can create a free software replacement for that.
Because this allows a customer/donator etc. to gain access to everything that the programmer agrees to distribute for that subscription fee, whilst still being 100% Free as in Libre Software.
