The current idea is to let each task manage its virtual memory domain
itself, providing only physical memory resources.

Yes, it is possible.  It is not what we want to do though, currently.

How filesystems work is different from the question which filesystem
format to use.  Filesystems should mediate access to the blocks on the
disk, so that's what they will do (d'oh!).
