Jamie thanks. Part of my testing is to determine which Linux
logger can be used without a lot of messing about under the hood
of Linux. It looks like installing klog may result in exactly
that.
What I expect may come from the windows world that I'm trying to
leave, where an installer package does exactly that: Install. If
it needs something I'm accustomed to the installer going and
getting it. Perhaps for some reason, referring to the "sqlite" you
tell me I need, that's not possible.
As to the installer I had to first figure out terminal to do
that. If terminal finds an old install file I sure would not know
it. I did not realize that maybe nobody is in charge of making
sure an up to date installer is the only one available.
I'm guessing I can't upgrade klog until it launches which I
haven't yet achieved. How to go find the latest installer is a
procedure I haven't learned yet.
ATM I'm stopped dead on specifying which log I want because that
window won't accept what I think, from the questions, should go
there.
I looked for a manual online but did not yet find a link at
klog.xyz. Looking at the download page sends my eyes crosseyed.
Would not know what to do with a "Debian package". The Exact Hits
section I can only guess at which one. guessing at "stretch
(stable)" just based on the word "Stable" leads to a page which
is, as a raw Linux newbie, not usable. I have no idea what to do
with it.
Overall you can see where this might be headed. Xlog installed,
configured, imported my 100K+ QSO's without a single error message
or the need for a single terminal command. Its ready for action.
Too bad the user interface is so poor. I like yours better.

Hello again!
Another important topic... the KLog version you
are installing is a one year old one... and many things
happened to KLog in 2018 ;-)
Please read
https://www.klog.xyz to see what
you are missing and the bugs you may find in that version...
just for information.

I hope there are some experienced Linux klog users lurking.
I'm a rank newbie, so new the cosmoline and shrinkwrap is
still there.
Running a fresh installation of Linux Mint I installed (sorry)
xlog and
klog, intending to compare them. Xlog install went off without
a hitch
and imported my adif log of a bit over 100K QSO's
Klog not so much. The install resulted in some undecipherable

^C
address@hidden:~$
Note: The ^C final line is my error using the windows copy
command. I
got that corrected upstairs.
What I was doing is installing the country database as
suggested. Now
I've lost the two error windows accompanying that effort which
disappeared when I entered ^c. What failed is klog reading the
cty file.
And I haven't got klog to actually launch yet.
The comparison isn't yet going well. Any advice appreciated.
So far it
appears Klog is installed but unusable.
Reiteration: I don't know much if anything about Linux yet.
Transitioning out of windows is painful.
