Hello,

this is just to inform that the GGZ Gaming Zone project
        http://www.ggzgamingzone.org/
has now started to include support for gnuchess AI players.
GGZ is a free (or *the* free, according to some) gaming integration platform
for mostly casual games.

This is currently working (kind of) for our chess game server
        http://www.ggzgamingzone.org/gameservers/chess/
for which clients exist for Gtk+, KDE and SDL/Pygame.

The latter client is part of the GGZBoard framework, and beside supporting the
(self-written) GGZ chess AI on the client side, it will also be equipped with
a gnuchess engine soon. Similarly, other GGZBoard games already wrap the
gnugo and gnushogi engines to some extent.

Also, for later this year a port of GGZBoard to PyKDE is planned, getting us a
new GUI with little work, since all the game engines can be reused.

Another area of work would be Elo ratings. We do have a sophisticated ratings,
highscores & rankings mechanism already, and an Elo table somewhere, but
nobody ever examined this for chess in particular.

If someone wants to join us for hacking this in, please let us know.

Josef
