Please be more specific. Which check fails (look in check.log).
Also, is this Solaris 10 on x86 or Solaris 10 on sparc ?

What failed?

The sanity.sh script will try to find good tools
that are good enough to use.

The sanity.sh script should already test and warn
you if there are problems with any of these tools:

    - id (/usr/bin/id on Solaris 10 fails)
    - expr (/usr/bin/expr on Solaris 10 fails on large patterns)
    - tr (/usr/bin/tr on Solaris 10 passes)
    - awk (/usr/bin/nawk on Solaris 10 passes)

For exmaple, you may wish to install the following
at least temporarily the following package:

  - GNU coreutils 5.97 (or better)

to pick up a copy of id and expr that work.

Without knowing if it was the test harness or the program that
had the problem, no one will be able to advise you.
