Since you use tortoiseCVS ...

I use both tortoiseCVS and commandline (cvshome.org)

I also configured tortoiseCVS to use "BeyondCompare" as my diff tool.

Great viewer to look at directories or files and see changes/differences.

Look at directories? How do you mean? Like Norton Commander or something?

I have downloaded something else which was recommended at the tortoisecvs website or something (can't remember it) or else in the tortoisecvs help maybe? I'm on my macintosh now, but I believe it's called windiff or something (AFAIR) ?

That also has this "splitted view" so you can watch to files simultaneously... I just *LOVE IT* :-)

But then yesterday I found out that you can do something similary on the command-line: With the option --side-by-side.

Can't remember the exact command... Something with cvs diff --side-by-side file.ext I guess...

That however isn't as nice as with a GUI, but if you maximize your window it could be okay in an emergency situation.....

tortoiseCVS will downlaod the current HEAD file, giv eit the
filename.vernum and then send that file and the current file in your
sandbox to BeyondCompare and it will display both files, side by side and
show what what has changed.

Real slick!

Yeah, but I saw that I can only download a 30-day version... And I just hate shareware that pops up with annoying messages about registration and shit... And a lot of things are usually disabled from the beginning so I got this fine freeware tool which I like (windiff ? or something)...
