Subject: Hanging checkout

I have been having difficulties in producing a checkout on one remote site, where it just hangs when it gets started.  (This whole setup has been starcrossed, as I have had some difficulty understanding the permissions setups... but that is another matter).

The situation:
The Repository:  On a Mac OS X, (10.1.2), running the "installed" version of CVS (1.10).  I have successfully created workspaces both locally on the repostory machine (several copies for different users) and remotely, via an SSH connection.  In one case the remote machine was also running OS X, CVS 1.10, while on another I *think* it was running windows, but I don't know for sure.

The failing case:
A linux box, running SUSE distribution.  The CVS version is 1.11.  I have correctly setup the environment variables to make an SSH connection to the repository (labeled testnexus).  It just hangs....    ...
I think I'm in the same boat.
I have do the same to "unhang" my CVS client from the server.
I.e.,
$ cvs -d :pserver:address@hidden:/cvs co ccvs
...
U ccvs/zlib/os2/zlib.def
cvs [checkout aborted]: received interrupt signal
Where a260 is my Linux 2.4.8 box and the client is sitting
on a Cygwin 1.3.9 layer on a Windows98SE machine.
The client also hangs on any remote server on the internet.

I think the client does not recognize an "EOT" signal.
I built both client and server binaries from source and
I think it wasn't hanging when I just installed the prebuilt
binaries. I'm thinking it's my environment. I am runnin gcc 2.95.3-5
under Cygwin and 3.0.3 under Linux, but there are so many libraries,
I'm just not sure which versions of which libraries are being incorporated
in the code. BTW, I am running CVS 1.11.1.1 (Cygwin) and 1.11.1p1 (Linux).
