You probably logged in to repository-1 then changed your CVSROOT to
repository-2 and didn't log in to it; therefore, even though you set your
CVSROOT to repository-2, cvs is looking at your cvspass file and using what
you've logged into and not what your CVSROOT is set at.
Be sure to log into repository-2 then try your cvs 'log' and 'tag' commands
again.

Hi,
I have two repositories. One repository-1 is set as CVSROOT in the
environment. Another repository-2 is is set as CVSROOT in the current
window-terminal. The CVSROOT that should be effective for the
window-terminal is the CVSROOT set for that window, isn't it ? Then why
does,
cvs log
AND
cvs -q tag <tag name>

execute with CVSROOT set in the environment. In other words, repository-1
is accessed for LOG info even though the CVSROOT set for the window point
to repository-2

Please clarify immediately. Is this abug in cvs ? Or am I doing something
wrong ? Or am I missing something here.

Thanks
Sangeetha
