Hello,
"Connection refused" means that port 2401 is not open on that server
( or it's blocked between the two machines somewhere, like a firewall ).
Try this on the RH Linux box : telnet localhost 2401
If you get connection refused, then inetd is NOT opening that port
for some reason.
Feel free to send your inetd.conf to me if you'd like, maybe I can
help.
If that's not the problem, it's likely an issue with your network.
