On the linux box, check to see if you have a $CVSROOT/CVSROOT/passwd
file. If so, take a look at
http://cvshome.org/docs/manual/cvs_2.html#SEC29
If not, add one, since cvs will use /etc/passwd and will transmit the
user's *system* password in cleartext.
