I'm not able to reproduce this problem -- what version(s) of CVS are you running, are you running with a local repository or client/server, and what platform(s) are you running on?
The repository is on a linux box (redhat version 7.0). cvs version on this machine is 1.10.8.
I tested this on a NT client (cvs version 1.1.11) and on a solaris intel box (version 1.10.7).
The clients access the repository via the .rhosts mechanism. I also tried with the repository on the solaris box.Another weird thing: if I export it on the same machine as the repository then only the file is retrieved (not the directory).
I will send you an example of the repository to reproduce this problem in a separate email.
