cvs[checkout aborted]: invalid change text problem

From: address@hidden
Subject: cvs[checkout aborted]: invalid change text problem
Date: Fri, 6 Oct 2000 12:38:57 +0200 (CEST)

Dear info-cvs,
we have a problem with cvs 1.10.3
(repository on afs, all Linux client
for cvs ci, cvs up etc).

The problem described below manifests
itself in the same way also on HP-UX clients.

The problem appears when we try to checkout
a file within some time interval (plain cvs co works...).
Going back in time, there are intervals where the
checkout is impossible and the error message
is "invalid change text" (see details in the following).
In the example provided, the files
has two revisions 1.1 and 1.2. Everything is
OK before the date corresponding to
1.1 and after the one corresponding to
revision 1.2

We would like to know:
0) Is the corruption localised to few
files or the full repository is in danger?
   check_cvs.pl is OK.
1) explanation of the problem
2) origin
3) fixes (there is a pair of files giving
   this problem)

Is there out there somebody who could help?

Thanx, Massimo
