The manul talks about modifying /etc/inetd.conf, but my web host can't do that for me for security reasons. In the manual under "Direct Connection with password authentication" it says: "the file `/etc/inetd.conf' needs to be edited so inetd knows to run the command cvs pserver when it receives a connection on the right port"
Is there another way for me to setup my server to accept connections on port 2401?

I'd like to install cvs on my hosted website where I dont have access to inetd.conf and I can't run cvs as root. Is there another way to run the cvs server so I can access it remotely using my maccvs pro client?Do you have a shell account on the server hosting your website? If so then you can probably use CVS there. If so, how do you access your account? -- Greg A.
