Hi,
You don't need the Debian packages if you just want to use igraph from R, the Debian packages are meant for igraph development in C or Python. In R, you simply have to type:
install.packages("igraph")
(as stated on igraph's download page by the way: "The simplest way to install the igraph R package is typing install.packages("igraph") in your R session, please try this before downloading from here.")

i'm new on igraph and i ain't be able to install it to my ubuntu 8.04 system.. I tried debian packages but couldn't have read.graph() or other functions in R.. Moreover , i tried to install it from source code but after configuration i don't get any make file.... Can anyone help me for installation on R ???
