Marco,
there is a function that returns the vertices _up to_ a given
distance, use this twice. E.g. in R it is something like
g <- graph.ring(10)
setdiff( neighborhood(g, 3, 0)[[1]], neighborhood(g, 2, 0)[[1]] )
