help problems with eps figures in @image

Hello,

I'm trying to include eps figures in my texinfo file using the @image
command and texi2dvi

eg:

@image{figure}

where figure.eps exists

when I run texi2dvi I get the error

... extra }, or forgotten @endgroup

on the line that contains the @image command

Any ideas whats wrong?

Note that some images work fine and some dont work at all.  Varios ways to
create eps figures produce same results, photoshop and netbpm utils give
same errors.
