Creating Pointers with `makeinfo'

In the texinfo documentation under nodes there is a section titled 
"Creating Pointers with 'makeinfo'". But it does not explain how to do
this. 

I have also looked at the makeinfo options list as well and can't seem
to find it. 

So the question is how do you do this?
