Hi Tar users,
We're contacting you about tar and our project LINA.
LINA is an Open Source project that makes it easy to run Linux applications on
other operating systems, including Windows and Mac OS X. Taking a step beyond
other cross-platform solutions like Cygwin and traditional virtual operating
systems, our goal is to make Linux applications as easy to install and run on
other operating systems as native applications.
We have just finalized our first truly user-friendly release of LINA. We have
also packaged a small number of applications into cross-platform packages that
work wherever LINA is running, with many more coming soon. Tar is among the
first packages that we have put together. We know you there are other ways to
run tar on non-unix operating systems, but we think LINA makes it particularly
We are currently holding the tar installers in our testing area where they are
getting worked over by us and interested members of our community before we set
them loose on the public. It would be wonderful if you or anyone else in tar
community could have a look at them and give us feedback.
Here is a link to the login for the testing area. You can log in with the username "tar"
and the password "tar-tester".
