I was able to work around the compile bugs mentioned in my earlier mail
by changing all the REGISTER(x,y) declarations in
libgst/{interp.c,interp-bc.inl}
to just "y". It appears that declaring things in registers on a sparc
doesn't do whatever was expected.
I notice also that during the configure step, all the linking in
lightning/ failed (bad invocation of ln); I did that manually.
