Using IO package with MXE-Octave (Octave not compiled with Java) |

I am trying to use the IO package (xlh=xlsopen(Tout,1,'COM');)
I get the error message
Octave not compiled with the Java Interface.
Does IO need the Java interface? If so, how do I compile MXE_Octave with
java support.
