thanks for your considering but I really don't understand what are you talking about :(
would you explain me these two questions more obviously? ( I'm really a freshman in Octave :)
1. How could I upgrade my Octave from version 3.4.0 to 3.6.4?
2. How could I install any packages on my mac? ( I mean where should I put the package file(s) I've downloaded from internet?)

You think that Octave is a package that Octave can install.

No, compiling Octave for Mac OS X is tricky business. The easiest
think you can do is use macports, homebrew, or fink. They all package
Octave, at various levels of quality. Take your pick.
