Hi Paulo
as Dmitri already mentioned this is a really old version of Octave.
You should upgrade and see if your problem is fixed. May be it is
fixed if when using the native graphics toolkit rather than gnuplot.
The following instructions should work in installing from source
http://wiki.octave.org/Debian (I believe there's 2 packages on that
list that you will have to specify the version but that's it).
