It certainly would be. Should you require such list, try the command
lookfor colormap
which lists some other colormap-related functions as well as colormaps
but it's easy enough to sort out which is which.
As for demos, it turns out that most if not all colormap functions have
a built in demo which, not surprisingly, displays them as an image:
