Hi Marco,

I tried to download from
     file:///C:/Program%20Files/GraphicsMagick-1.3.12-Q16/www/download.html
Evidently this is version 1.3.12-Q16.  (The choice offered was
"Current Stable Branch:  1.3.12 (Released March 8, 2010)".)
This installed GraphicsMagick as a Windows XP app, but did nothing for Octave's "imread.m".
Obviously I didn't do it right.  I notice that you specify "libGraphicsMagick", but this does not seem to be explicitly available at the download site.  Where can I find it?

again: cygwin specific problem should be discussed on the cygwin mailing list.
The problem was already reported for
 octave-3.4.0-3
 libGraphicsMagick3-1.3.12-1

These versions should work:
 octave-3.4.0-3
 libGraphicsMagick3-1.3.12-2
and do not upgrade libgfortran3-4.3.4-4 (stay on  libgfortran3-4.3.4-3)

or at least they work on my Win XP pc.
