Can you freely compile for symbian? I mean, anything at all? I don't
know what's available for that OS. I thought it was locked down and
hard to modify.

I guess if you can use Python, you can try Pytave.
Also, you realise that Mathematica or Wolfram's software is a
completely different problem domain than Octave and not comparable? If
you're expecting Octave to solve the same problems as Mathematica, you
will be disappointed.
