You (the Octave developers team)_are_promoting Matlab. By the fact that
you want Octave to be a good clone of Matlab.
It's the same as AMD was promoting Intel.
The situation really changed when Intel decided to implement x86_64
originally developed by AMD. And less explicitly when Intel decided to
implement virtualization in a manner similar to AMD.
