I STRONGLY recommend that everone refrain from speculating on legal matters on public mailing lists. The safe thing to do is to never refer to the source code of any parts of Matlab in any way if you plan to work on Octave. I ask that everyone working on Octave adhere to that regardless of whether you think it might be allowed in some way. jwe
