Hi All,

I have a really basic quesiton that I can't seem to find an answer for,
perhaps because it is too general.
Yes, your question is not well defined enough: are you going to attend the course or teach it?

I have never used matlab, and I need to do so in the context of an
econometrics course. Is there any reason why any of you would suggest that
an absolute beginner not use Octave?
It is very unlikely that anyone on this list will ever try to discourage you from using Octave ;)

Please be aware in your replies that I will not understand non- simplified
technical answers.

Many thanks!
