Dear Doug

I am not a develpper. What I have done is introdcuce the QtOctave Portable and 
mirrored on my web with
permission of the original develpoper.
>From the >> pkg list, there seem to be sockets octave-forge package.
However, the octave-forge package use the absolute path.

Perhaps you have use 
'pkg prefix' command and 'pkg rebuild' command.

Please see 'help pkg' in details.
