That is the difference between Nupedia (I think that was the name) and Wikipedia. Nupedia tried to recruit experts to write what they knew about and only have "knowledgeable" editors and writers while Wikipedia uses the "it'll get fixed eventually" method. The second will get much more participation and therefore is more useful because if anyone can edit it easily then you'll get more information. Sure some of it may not be the most useful and possibly wrong, but then new users can try it, ask a question (possibly to the help list) and fix it.

As you can probably see, I'm much more for editing by anyone and having more (possibly erroneous material) than a small amount of definitely correct, but possibly out of date, material.
