OCTAVE is a free high-level language for numerical computation that is
mostly compatible with Matlab. Use it for linear algebra, Monte Carlo
simulations, root finding, and eigenvalue problems.

OCTAVE is available for Linux, Macintosh, and Windows in binary and
source form. The recommended version for most users is 2.1.72 which
was released on November 11, 2005.

If you need help using OCTAVE, or if you're ready to help others, head
over to the online mailing list where you'll find an active community
of OCTAVE users.

OCTAVE, written by John W. Eaton and many others, is proud to be part
of the GNU project. OCTAVE is licensed under the GPL.
