Problem using system("command", 0,"async") |

Hi,
I am using the old 2.1.50 windows binary of octave. I am using this version,
because (at least so far) the more current versions are all much slower due to
the gcc Short jump/long jump exception option.
On a windows 98 system after issueing the command
system("mplayer2",0,"async")
the following happens:
- long pause (5-10 seconds)
- error message dialogue (application is being closed due to invalid command in
module dispatch.oct)
- this message dialogue appears 5-6 times
- mplayer appears and octave displays the prompt
Without the "async" option it works as expected.
On a Windows-XP system it works fine, mplayer appears and Octave immediately
comes back and displays a prompt.
Any ideas what I can do?
Best wishes
Reiner
