Octave 2006 Call for Papers
Washington, DC - April 20-21, 2006

The first Octave Workshop will be held at National Institute of 
Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, MD near Washington, DC April 
20 to 21, 2006.

We invite all Octave users and developers to submit abstracts on topics 
relating to the development of Octave and its applications. Topics 
include language improvements, numerical methods, application areas, 
proposed extensions and infrastructure developments. For more

Important Dates:

Registration: starting November 1, 2005
Online abstract submission: starting November 1, 2005
Early registration: ends November 30, 2005
Deadline for abstracts: January 9, 2006
Deadline for articles: March 1, 2006


Submission Format:

One page abstract containing the title of the paper, each author's 
name, affiliation and email address, and a brief summary of the results 
to be presented (one or two paragraphs in length).

The full paper should not exceed 20 single-spaced pages. For 
consistency we recommend the use of single column layout with 1 inch 
margins and 11 point Times or Computer Modern font on letter-size 
(8-1/2 x 11 inch) paper.

Email submissions to address@hidden Attach an HTML or PDF 
version of the abstract. Authors will be asked to submit their paper to 
arXiv (http://arxiv.org), which accepts submissions as TeX/LaTeX, HTML, 
PDF and PostScript.

Along with your submission, please supply your name, title, 
affiliation, address, and country of citizenship. This information is 
required for access to the workshop site. Please indicate if you would 
like to be included on the workshop Participant List.


Best Student Paper Award:

A prize of $200 will be given to the author(s) of the best 
student-authored paper (or split between more than one paper if there 
is a tie). A paper is eligible if all of its authors are full-time 
students at the time of submission. To inform the program committee 
about a paper's eligibility, simply note that it is a student paper 
when submitting the abstract.


Workshop Fee:

Early registration $100 (before November 30, 2005). Fees are $150 
thereafter. Registration includes the Thursday night workshop barbeque. 
Some travel assistance funds may be available according to the quality 
of the submission, the need of the applicants and their contributions 
to the Octave project.
