Hello,
I've recently switched my PC to a Debian stable box because... well... I
really want it to be *stable*. Unfortunately, a lot of software from Debian
stable (Woody) is -as we all know- quite outdated...
Still, I would like to run a quite recent version of Octave on that box.
The latest octave that is in Debian stable appears to be 2.1.35...
Therefore, I've tried compiling 2.1.64 myself, using only the software-tools
that are available on a Debian stable system, but unfortunately, i didn't get
through all of the compilation process.
So here's my question: is it possible to get the latest CVS-octave to
compile using only the tools that are provided on a Debian stable box?
Or will I have to upgrade some of the standards stable tools too in
order to be able to compile 2.1.64?
Are there any special compiler flags or environment variables I could try
playing with in order to get what i want?
If 2.1.64 is not at all possible, then what could be the latest version
I could try to compile on my Debian stable (Woody) box?
Regards,
Bart
