    y = myfunc (inline("x+1"),1)

    function y = myfunc (fcn, x)
       y = fcn(x);

Also check the functions vectorize, argnames and formula... Also check 
function handles like

   fcn = @ (x) x + 1;

that achieve similar behaviour to inline functions..
