For what it's worth, that has always been public for Debian, see the build
daemon logs at http://buildd.debian.org/build.php?pkg=octave-forge
Build logs for octave-forge_2004.07.07-1 should get added this evening as I
am currently uploading the i386 version built here. Kudos to Paul -- it
looks like everything I wanted included actually got included:

oct-files: /usr/lib/octave/2.1.57/site/oct/i386-pc-linux-gnu/octave-forge
binaries: /usr/lib/octave/2.1.57/site/exec/i386-pc-linux-gnu
alternatives:

oct-files:
/usr/lib/octave/2.1.57/site/octave-forge-alternatives/oct/i386-pc-linux-gnu
shell commands will install into the following directories:
binaries: ${exec_prefix}/bin
man pages: ${prefix}/man
libraries: ${exec_prefix}/lib
headers: ${prefix}/include
octave-forge is configured with
octave: octave (version 2.1.57)
