Hello Mr. Douwes,
If I understand you correctly, you want to work things out on the
commandline and then put them to work once you found the right line?
What I do is simply keep an editor window open on a file named
"scratchpad.m", where I put little bits of code I am working on. When I
am ready to run it I save it and run scratchpad from octave or cut and
paste from it.
I don't think there is a better way to do this.
cheers,

Dear Sir, Madam,
I recently started to use Octave 2.1.42 on my PC (Windows) to
interpret the
results of my chemical experiments by solving the appropriate

I am a novice at programming and I would like to save the command
lines
that proved successful and reload them at later sessions. The route
via
'diary' did not work. I would also like to be able to edit the saved
file.
I am sorry that I could not find the solution for my problem in the
Manual.
I hope you can help me.
Yours sincerely,
H.Douwes
