I set up a new P4 with XP on it and then did the following
(from Paul Söderlind's Software Page):
The Hardest Way
Follow the instructions for the hard way, but compile your own Win32
Binaries instead of downloading them.
* Download the Octave sources from the Octave Home Page. As of 5
Mar 2003, version 2.1.46 works fine.
* Put the downloaded file in a directory on the the same disk as
CygWin. Open a Cygwin window, cd to the directory, and give the command
tar -xzvf octave-2.1.xx.tar.gz (subsitute the correct number for xx)
* cd to the directory with the source files (probably one level
down, like octave-2.1.xx), and give the command ./configure (wait until
finished)
* Give the command make (wait until finished - takes a long time)
* Give the command make install-strip (wait until finished)
* You can now delete the directory with the source files and start
using Octave.
All this worked out OK and I have octave running :-)
But I don't have all the M files :-(
What is the best way of getting all the M files set up properly?
I am OK in windows I'm very green in Linux so go gentle with me :-)
