Has anyone gotten octave + octave-forge to compile under Mac OS X
10.1.5?

Yes, it is possible. See http://homepage.mac.com/persquare for some info, also check the forums on octave-forge site

I installed octave-2.1.35-6 using fink and it works OK, but
octave-forge won't
compile.

I tried to install octave-2.1.35-8 from the unstable fink
collection, but
compiling fails with too many errors to list here.

You should mail the package maintainer, use fink desc octave to get the mail address. It used to work, so something other than octave must have changed, either in your setup or in any of the packages octave depends on.

Is there an easy way to get octave+octave-forge to work under 10.1.5?

No, not unless you can get fink to do it.
