I wouldn't recommend using g++ or g77 from gcc-2.95.x with -mabi=64.
With the soon to be released gcc-3.0 it will hopefully be a better
situation. I have been testing the pre-release. g77 seems solid with
-mabi=64. g++ used to work, but exception handling is broken at present
