You must not install the Octave for Windows distribution when you already
have CygWin installed. Oops. Now you're just as well uninstalling CygWin
and installing Octave first, then re-installing CygWin should you wish a
more recent version of CygWin than that included with Octave for Windows.

Sorry, it's much less than desirable but unfortunately how it is right now.
It sounds like the damage has already been done on your drive (the reason
is that it wipes out your drive mappings, that's all).

Best of luck (the Windows dist. is pretty much unsupported right now...)

Subject: conflict with previously installed cygwin

Hello!

I just downloaded and installed octave with default options for windows.
When I try to run I get an error message indicating that there is some kind
of dll conflict with previously installed cygwin. I uninstalled octave and
tried to re-install with custom settings. But the installer ignored my
selection and re-installed octave with default settings.

Can you help?

Thanks,
