RE: User Function

Indeed I hope to be involved in whatever way possible. I'd originally
proposed to
John and to Matthew that I might help co-administer the sourceforge site,
but
I've had no luck getting in touch with Matthew for some months now (no
longer
actively trying, mind you).

My motivation comes from a desire to keep
matlinks.net/matlinks.sourceforge.net and
octave.sourceforge.net segregated, as MatLinks also includes toolboxes for
Matlab
use. I'm interested in forging a strong link between the two separate
sites, as my
original goal was to leverage MatLinks as a manner of soliciting Matlab
contributions
for, ultimately, porting/translation to Octave, for the purpose of boosting
Octave's
core capabilities, and improving compatibility, at least from the user's
perspective,
between the two. In a nutshell, to use MatLinks as a sort of breeding
ground for
a portion of useful contributions to the Octave project, and also to draw
Matlab users
into the Octave crowd by strengthening the link between the two user
communities, of
which Octave's is much more cohesive and collaborative than Matlab's
presently is.

So to sum up, yes, I'd like very much to see a concerted push to bootstrap
the
octave.sourceforge.net site again, and it's really just a matter of
presenting Matthew
Roberts with the idea (once we find him/draw his attention).
