fsolve --- books on numerical analysis

A general book I found very nice in topics coverage is a quite old one
my numerical methods professor suggested to me a while ago:

  Numerical Methods by Germund Dahlquist and Ake Bjorck
    translated by Ned Andersen, Prentice-Hall Inc., 1974

I also have Numerical Recipes in C and find it _very_ useful.
