Where I work, we have the same set of (GNU make) makefiles for
Unix and Windows. We write everything assuming a Unix
environment ; under Windows, we run the makefiles from within
Cygwin, which provides a Unix-like environment. We had to write
a wrapper around MSVC's cl to make it behave more or less like a
Unix cc.
