Hi, thanks for the quick response.

Unfortunately, I didn't find anything related to plain dm-crypt searching through the recent grub-devel archives.
I'll probably try cross-posting to that forum though, hopefully someone will be able to provide a link to this patch.

Try searching grub-devel. IIRC I have seen patch adding support for 
plain dm-crypt posted recently.
