thanks for confirming. i didn't think the info from the edid-decode command looked quite right. i just thought it was odd because tools like xrandr successfully detect and use the highest resolution successfully.

This means grub cannot get EDID information from BIOS. This is also
confirmed by the fact that your videoinfo lacks EDID information.

I do not think there is anything that can be done here, unless someone
can debug BIOS interaction.
