I am using the grub legacy provided in the Clonezilla 1.2.12-10 livecd
in the /opt/drbl/pkg folder (grub 2 is installed by
default). Everything goes OK until it is time to install stage 1 in
the MBR. The "install_grub_hd" routine provided by Clonezilla emits a
file not found message, which I have determined to be from grub
looking for the stage 1 file.

Investigating, I launched the grub prompt. I type "cat" and type the
partition number, then tab-complete, showing me that it sees the files
in the partition. However, after selecting the "grub" folder, it won't
successfully go any deeper. When I try tab-completing the line further,
it spits out gibberish. Here is a photo (sorry about the quality) to
show you what I mean:

I had previously considered myself very knowledgeable in grub 1, but this
has me stumped.

Thank you,
