Your node is not connected to other nodes, that's why your searches
don't get any results.

I'm not sure whether GNUnet in edgy is outdated. Some users have
reported diffulties connecting nodes with GNUnet 0.7.0 to the current
0.7.1 network.
There are two possible solutions:

    * Make sure your firewall allows connections from/to the remote port
      2089. That's a compatibility TCP transport for 0.7.0 nodes.
    * Uninstall you kubuntu packages and build GNUnet & gnunet-gtk from
source. You can ask this mailing list or on #gnunet for help.

Of course, maybe the log has additional information about what's going
wrong.

Hope this helps,

Nils
